The Salty Dog Cafe is a favorite of many visitors to Hilton Head Island. It’s one of those places that travelers must experience, if for no other reason than to say they’ve been there and to purchase one of the famous t-shirts. But seriously, that’s not the only reason vacationers swarm to the Salty Dog Cafe in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The menu filled with tantalizing choices of seafood, sandwiches, salads and drinks has guests coming back for more.
They are located in the South Beach Marina Village of the Sea Pines resort area. If you’re not staying at the resort for your trip, plan on paying $5 to park. It’s a great idea to eat here when you’re spending the day enjoying the activities in Sea Pines anyway, so the parking fee is not a big deal. There are lots of great little shops across the Boardwalk and various activities to enjoy in this beautiful marina locale.
Eat inside or bask in the glorious outdoor scenery as you relish your meal. The view is gorgeous from the deck, gazing out upon the water and boats. Dolphin can even be seen frolicking in the water upon occasion.
Mid-day is a very busy time at the Salty Dog as visitors stop by for a break in their busy day at the Village. The lunch menu is very welcoming, with appetizers such as shrimp toast and delicious grouper bites. The She Crab Soup is delightful and goes well with a half sandwich for a light and tasty meal Add in their choices of salads, sandwiches and fried fare with dessert and you’ll have quite a satisfying lunch experience.
Dinner time brings out Captain John’s Raw Bar serving oysters on the half shell. Fresh shrimp, hush puppies and onion rings make for a great start to the meal. The hush puppies have an unexpected sweetness and are in demand by many guests. The Super Seafood Salad filled with shrimp, seared tuna, crap meat, tomatoes, boiled eggs and feta cheese on crisp salad greens with a vidalia onion dressing makes a meal on its own. The crab cake sandwich is one of the favorites, as is Bob’s Grouper Dog, with lightly fried fresh grouper topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion on a hoagie roll. For a more hearty meal, the BBQ Shrimp, Broiled Seafood Combo or Chef’s Special are great. The Captain’s Platter can be ordered for one or two people and includes large portions of fried flounder, Alaskan Snow Crab legs, shrimp, oysters, rice and cole slaw. Steaks, pasta and chicken are also offered to round out the enticing menu.
Night time gets a bit livelier at this marina setting. The boardwalk patio is where the Tiki Bar is found with live entertainment that sets the stage for a fun filled evening. Customers love to enjoy the refreshing frozen drinks from the bar.

They make great souvenirs to preserve your vacation memories, or fun gifts to take home to those friends and family members who didn’t get to come with you.
